Assistant Account Executive – Ritter Public Relations
Selection Criteria:
An Assistant Account Executive will be expected to have a four-year college degree in public relations, marketing, communications or other related field.
An Assistant Account Executive will be expected to have competency and understanding of basic public relations skills, including: writing, public speaking, computer use and research. The individual should be a team player, possess good interpersonal skills, display initiative and an eagerness to learn and grow with the company.
Job Description:
Writing Skills: Assistant Account Executives will be expected to write accurately, factually and concisely. They will be expected to submit work to their superiors that is grammatically correct. All work should comply with AP style.
Media Relations: Assistant Account Executives will be expected to understand the media and learn and implement the following media relations skills: assembling a media d-base, editorial calendar, conducting follow-up calls, drafting the basic forms of media materials (news release, calendar release, media advisory, pitch letter, fact sheet, backgrounder, briefing books, etc.).
Organizational and Time Management Skills: Assistant Account Executives will be expected to meet deadlines, prioritize their work properly, schedule tasks effectively, conduct administrative duties as needed, maintain productivity and recognize when they need to inform their immediate supervisor of a situation (i.e. unplanned expenses, over/under time projections). Assistant Account Executives will be expected to be detail oriented and provide logistic support to account executives for events, etc.
Professional Development: Assistant Account Executives should take initiative and seek higher levels of involvement in client work. One way to do that is to review the job description for Account Executive, and strive to achieve and demonstrate those required skills. Another way to demonstrate an interest in moving forward is to participate in professional development activities (i.e. professional organizations, volunteer opportunities, taking college extension courses, etc.).
Client and Vendor Interaction: While an Assistant Account Executive may not have direct contact with clients, an AAE will interface with outside vendors. An AAE should be able to handle all vendor negotiations successfully, including completing necessary forms/paperwork and keeping their supervisor apprised of all activities.
Team Player: An Assistant Account Executive will be expected to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and a commitment to Ritter PR’s core values (quality, integrity, attitude, teamwork). All account staff are expected to be honest and truthful in dealings with clients, the media, vendors and other staff.
Reporting: Assistant Account Executives will work with and report to various staff dependent on the accounts they have been assigned. However, all Assistant Account Executives will have one direct supervisor who will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Account Executive with their professional development.
Time Tracking and Billable Hours: Assistant Account Executives will be expected to bill a determined number of hours per month. They are expected to be responsible and timely in tracking and entering their time.

You’ll learn how to use these metrics and make the best choices in program measurement.

Instructor: David Rockland, Ph.D., joined Ketchum in 2000 and led the development and implementation of the Barcelona Principles. He is responsible for the research business at Ketchum, including its global network across the United States, Costa Rica, Brazil, China, Germany and the U.K. David is a member of the IPR Commission on PR Measurement and Evaluation, and was its chairman for 2007 and 2008. He is on the board of the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication, and created the North American chapter.

Responsibilities:

· Coordinates the execution of Plant Sciences Crop marketing and PR plans through agencies, consultants and internal resources.
· Monitor public opinion through proprietary research to determine effectiveness of marketing and PR plans. Analyze results of this research and propose adjustments to plans.
· Develop and execute communication plans for Simplot internal key constituents and stakeholders across the Company and coordinate communication to align those constituents behind Plant Sciences and biotech objectives.
Education/Experience/Skills Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing or public relations with an MBA preferred.
· 5 years of experience in public relations, crisis management, marketing or brand management preferred. Scientific background extremely beneficial.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence up, down and across, both within the Company and outside of the Company
· May require up to 40% travel

Summary of Position
The Idaho STAR Program Communications Manager is responsible for creation and deployment of an internal and external communication strategy to improve and maintain the community outreach efforts for Idaho STAR that includes (but is not limited to) print, radio/TV, news media, web presence, social media, blogs, and various staffed events. This position will provide leadership in developing the communication strategy annually. These efforts will result in safety messages reaching the target audience, increasing student registrations in STAR courses, and building STAR’s brand to the point of being THE place to go for Idaho riders with the ultimate goal of reducing motorcycle crashes and fatalities on Idaho’s roadways.
